Can we pretend for a minute that we’re on an episode of Making the Video on MTV!? Shooting my About Video was a whirlwind but I had a rocking group of people that made it all happen. Also, our apartment has never looked so clean & put together!! People ask me why I wanted to make a video. Truth is, there is only so much you can convey through text & photos (also a reason I always reccommend wedding videography!!). I wanted to have a moving, talking representation of myself & my work. I wanted people to see truly how much I love getting to do what I do & what it is like to do a session with me. I wanted a chance to talk about my photography philosophy & see a little bit more of my personality. I wanted to show you our adorable puppy, Lemon! In a world completely saturated with beautiful photos by incredible artists, couples searching for the photographer that will fit their style & needs deserve all the transparency & authenticity they can get!
We started the day at about 10am doing hair & makeup in our kitchen, fueled by Morsel biscuits, coffee & maybe a mimosa.. Reid of Best Made Videos was also making a promo reel for Jen of The Outer Edge, so this was her time to shine! Next we headed over to Jenn’s house to photograph her & her sweet family. I love getting to see adorable little Hadley – she has the sweetest eyes & I love how concerned her puppy sibling, Olly, is for her! I encouraged Jenn & Zak to play with their baby girl & just have fun – this is when the true smiles & joy comes out in my family sessions!
While we were photographing this family, Jen was doing Erica’s hair & makeup for their engagement session! Before we started shooting at Golden Gardens, I snapped a few photos of this lovely lady. She has been a dear friend of mine for nearly four years now & it is such a joy to travel through life, our businesses & literally the world (can’t wait to go to Paris with her next month!) with her. Not only is she insanely talented at what she does, but she has the kindest soul & warmest heart. Love you, Jen!
I had asked Erica & Ryan a couple of months ago to be my models for this shoot. I played it off as a “couples session” because Erica didn’t know that Ryan was planning to propose!! Needless to say they are so adorably in-love & I always have such a blast photographing them. I also loved the outfit we picked out for Erica to wear – the yellow maxi skirt was the perfect pop against the gray-blue sky & water!
I also asked Erica to snap a few photos of Kevin & me as we wrapped up the shoot! This guy is my complete support system and I couldn’t do it without him. I also think of Lemon as my little mascot – we didn’t get quite as many pictures with her as I had hoped because she got disgustingly dirty in the sand while I was shooting Erica & Ryan!! More of this little nugget another time… Haha!
