The Best Family Session Locations

Families often ask me where they should take their family portraits. I always encourage my clients to consider where they love spending time together. Whether that is your local park, or in your home, there are so many options! I've rounded up a few of my favorites though to get those creative juices flowing. I've included a list of locations by region and vibe!

You can also check out these blog posts for more inspiration:

North Seattle + Edmonds

Discovery Park - Always a favorite + go-to! So much variety + great year-round.

Golden Gardens (beautiful at both early morning hours + evening!)

Green Lake Park

The Arboretum - Especially great for fall colors + cherry blossoms!

Gas Works Park

Brackett's Landing (Edmonds Waterfront)

Volunteer Park

Richmond Saltwater Beach Park

West/South Seattle

Lincoln Park

Seahurst Park

Alki Beach (best in the mornings)

Seward Park

Eastside

Juanita Bay + Beach

Heritage Park

Marymoor Park

Luther Burbank Park

Beach

Golden Gardens, Carkeek (below), Richmond Beach Saltwater Park, Edmonds waterfront, Seahurst - Best to choose based on your location/preference!

Urban + Iconic Seattle

Pike Place Market, Olympic Sculpture Park, Great Wheel/Pier

Lake Union Park, Center for Wooden Boats

Pioneer Square

PNW / Mountains + Adventure Sessions

North Bend + Snoqualmie Pass: Gold Creek Pond, Meadowbrook Farm, Rattlesnake Lake (+ Alpental Ski Area for snow!)

Snohomish: Great for fall pumpkin farms and late summer flowers

Ferry Rides (Mukilteo, Bainbridge)

A bit further out of town: Suncadia, Cave B/the Gorge, Olympic Peninsula, Mount Rainier, North Cascades, Mount Baker, Deception Pass, along Highway 2 (Sultan, Gold Bar, Skykomish) - the sky's the limit! I do charge additional mileage/travel fees for locations outside a 30mi radius of Seattle city center, but LOVE exploring new places with my families + going on adventures with you!!

Cozy at Home

Always a favorite! I love getting to document families in the comfort of their own home!

Studio sessions are also an option! I don't have a studio of my own, but I have a handful of studios on my list + photographer friends that I can rent space from! You'll most typically see me using a studio space for Mommy & Me Minis + Holiday Tiny Session marathons!

I hope this helps give you some inspiration for planning your next session! Again, I am always happy to explore new places, especially ones that have special meaning to you!
