Washington Park Arboretum - Favorite Location for Family Photography Session
The Washington Park Arboretum in Seattle is a stunning location for family photo sessions. One of my favorite features is its diverse collection of trees and plants from around the world which provide an endless choice of backdrops for your family portraits.
Settings
Whether you're looking for a natural setting for your photos or a more structured garden aesthetic, the arboretum has it all. There's a wealth of unique and beautiful spaces to explore.
Seasons
One thing I love about the arboretum is that it changes with the seasons. In the spring, the cherry blossoms, magnolias and azaleas burst into bloom with their range of pinks to whites, and in the fall, the maples and other trees light up in warm hues of oranges, yellows, and reds.Β
Time of Day
When planning your family photo session at the arboretum, it's important to think about the time of day and the weather. Early mornings and late afternoons tend to offer the best lighting, while overcast days can create a soft and flattering light (I call this natureβs soft box). And, of course, I will always check the weather forecast and suggest you dress appropriately for the season. I tend to try to avoid the Arboretum on weekend days as it can get particularly crowded (especially in the summer).
At the end of the day, the most important thing is to have fun and let your family's unique personality shine through in your photos. So, whether you're picnicking on the lawn, exploring the gardens, or just enjoying the natural beauty of the arboretum, your family session is sure to be a memorable and beautiful experience.
See this gorgeous engagement session from the Arboretum!
