I loved getting to meet this sweet family at their home in Gig Harbor for their baby boy’s newborn session! Hudson was just 7 days old and already so doted on by his big sister Hailey. Photographing newborns with toddler siblings can be challenging, but I just embrace the chaos and focus on capturing their energy of the family! When I arrived, Hudson was still nursing, so it gave me a great opportunity to bond with big sis. We jumped on the bed and talked about her stuffed animal friend. This time also let me get some great daddy-daughter shots! I am all about tickling & cuddle piles!
Newborn session length can range from 45 minutes to 2 hours. If you need to feed or change your baby during the session, that is 100% encouraged! They goal is for baby to be happy. Newborn sessions with siblings tend to last a little longer than first babies. I want to make sure to get natural shots with all of the family members – and a big sister or brother just adds in an extra spunky puzzle piece! I shoot very quickly which is a great asset when it comes to capturing unpredictable toddlers. They can be happy and smiley one minute, and totally over it the next. That’s part of what makes newborn photography so fun! Haha! It’s different and challenging every time.
I loved the muted color pallet they wore. The white shirts let baby Hudson’s features shine! Hailey looked so precious in her light blue dress. The pattern wasn’t overwhelming or distracting, so it was the perfect compliment. Hailey snuck down to her tea set at the end of the session and I couldn’t help but snap a few pictures.
