Marisol & Chris live in California, but decided on celebrating their engagement with photos at the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival! I was so thrilled when they asked me to photograph them at Roozengaarde as they made their way to Vancouver on vacation. I have visited the tulips a few times since I’ve lived in Seattle and they are absolutely stunning. Rows upon rows of vibrant, colorful flowers, bursting with joy! Not to mention the beautiful mountains lining the eastern horizon. I love meandering through the carefully groomed gardens of Roozengaarde, but even more so, dodging mud puddles in the fields. I’ll take any excuse to stop & literally smell the flowers for a moment!
The day for their engagement session finally arrived. In typical Washington fashion, the weather was dicey & Marisol & Chris ran into some terrible traffic on their way out of Seattle. The rain storms came & went as they got closer to Skagit Valley – we were all a little nervous & anxious to see if everything would work out! Just as they were arriving, there was a break in the clouds. Marisol’s white dress contrasted perfectly with the colorful fields allowing their movement to pop against the delicate stems. We frolicked through fields of reds & pinks & even some remaining fields of bright yellow daffodils still in full bloom. The sun even peeked out through the trees as I had them run through a field of lush greenery.
My favorite part of the session though was simply watching Marisol & Chris connect as a couple. Having them relax & focus on each other allowed the stress of traffic & weather to melt away. I think that is one of the greatest gifts I can give to my clients. After every session I send a quick sneak peek to my couples & this was Marisol’s response – “Thank you for this beautiful picture and for the great session, you made us feel very comfortable and reminding us of why we love each other so much.” – Thank YOU, Marisol & Chris, for allowing me to capture your joyful love!
