Sonoma Destination Engagement Photographer: Katie & Ryan

Sonoma Engagement Adventure

Last month I got to fly down to San Francisco, California, to photograph these two cuties for their engagement session! Katie was a sorority sister of mine at UVA and I was so thrilled when she reached out to me about photographing her & her fiancee! I’d never been to San Francisco before, so I didn’t have much in the way of location suggestions for Katie & Ryan. When they asked if I would be willing to head up to Sonoma to do their shoot at a winery they belonged to, I couldn’t say “YES!” fast enough! If you know me at all, you know I love wine! That may have been one large determining factor for our recent trip to Argentina…! Visiting Sonoma has been on my bucket list for a while, so I was over the moon to get to not only see the beautiful landscape of the area, but also taste a little vino while we were at it!

Exploring Wine Country: Jacuzzi Family Vineyards

Katie & Ryan picked Kevin & me up from our hotel in San Francisco & we headed towards Sonoma. We made a quick stop at the Golden Gate Bridge and it was more majestic than I imagined it would be! I snapped a few portraits of them there (dodging the large crowds on the beautifully sunny day). Our next stop was Jacuzzi Family Vineyards, where they are members. And yes, it is the same Jacuzzi that invented the hot tub! It’s actually a pretty cool story if you look it up!

We tasted olive oils & a few wines and took portraits out by the lemon trees. For a moment I thought I had been transported to Italy! Katie & Ryan were so sweet in front of the camera & their classic attire fit in seamlessly with the elegant surroundings. Katie looked like she had stepped out of a Kate Spade catalog! They changed into outfit #2 and we headed over to Cline Cellars. Jacuzzi’s sister winery which is conveniently located just across the street!

California Sunsets: Cline Cellars

Everything turned golden as we explored the vineyard at Cline. The vines weren’t blooming this time of year, but it was still magical stepping through the tall grass. That California sunshine really is something else! We explored around the property, found some adorable donkeys, and enjoyed the last sips of complimentary bubbles. After a little more taste testing (when in Rome… I mean, Sonoma… right!?) we reluctantly headed back to the city. I have truly been blessed with some incredible experiences in my career. I couldn’t be more thankful for getting to photograph not only beautiful locations, but also beautiful people – inside & out. Katie & Ryan – thank you SO much for having me photograph your engagement session in Sonoma! Congratulations you two, & cheers to your bright future!! xoxo
