Words can’t begin to describe the joy I have for photographing this family year after year! The Kishes are one of my longest “Forever Clients“. I have had the pleasure of photographing them from their wedding day, to expecting their first baby girl, her arrival. And now as they have grown to a family of four! In the last two years, I have really taken note of how much I love getting to photograph my clients through each milestone. I love building that relationship with them and capturing their joy through all of life’s adventures. This is the true cornerstone of my “Forever Clients” and I feel so lucky to get to capture this for so many couples and families.
Whether you’re celebrating of the arrival of your new baby, or puppy, or celebrating your anniversary, all of those milestones deserve to be captured beautifully. You’ll see at the end of this post Rachel & Josh’s photo wall. This is exactly how I envision my forever clients displaying their photos. They jokingly call it the “Meredith Wall” haha! But it really is incredible to see all of the milestones I’ve been able to capture for them, hung together in a cohesive display of their journey as a family.
I traveled down to their home in Gig Harbor to welcome baby Elsie. Big sister Blaire was a ball of energy as usual and I had so much fun playing with her around the house. That’s another great benefit of getting to photograph a family year after year. Blaire remembers me now, and is more open to having her photos taken by me! That comfort level is an amazing gift that allows me to create emotive images like these. Blaire is also obsessed with her baby sister so it led to some pretty darn adorable photos.
The Kishes always do a beautiful job of choosing their outfits. By wearing light neutrals & pastels, Elsie’s delicate features shine. The focus is on the people rather than on distracting clothing. Their wardrobe also coordinates well with their neutral home decor. White bedding is the perfect backdrop for an at home newborn session! I also love that Rachel indulged me in wearing Elsie in a wrap for a few photos at the end of their session. These are some of my favorite shots!
I can’t thank Rachel & Josh enough for trusting me to capture all of these milestones for them. It was funny to look back at their wedding photos from five years ago, or even Blaire’s newborn photos from two years ago, and see how my style has changed. There are subtle differences in lighting and editing of course, but my main focus has shifted to capturing joy. That is the common thread that ties all of my weddings and portrait sessions together. To me, capturing the joy of your wedding day is pretty darn similar to capturing your toddler jumping on your bed. It’s crazy, it’s fun, it’s beautiful. It’s life. So thank you, Rachel & Josh, and all of my other clients for allowing me to capturing these joyful memories for you!
This was one of Rachel’s favorite poses from Blaire’s newborn session so it was fun to re-create it with their newest addition!
