Santa Fe Wedding at La Posada
Sarah was covering a press conference for her newspaper - no make up, flannel button-down and all. She noticed a man that she didn't recognize, which is a rarity in the small town of Greenville, Mississippi, and assumed that he was the suspect (on charge for murder, none the less). Sarah thought to herself that it was unfortunate how handsome he was! Fast forward a few minutes and Sarah finally realized that this man was actually the investigator! Her future husband, Andy, asked for her contact information & the rest is history. It was a crisp January day in Santa Fe - there was a light dusting of snow on the ground & a chill in the air. Sarah was surrounded by her best friends & family in the bridal suite at La Posada Resort, sipping mimosas. It was special for me as well as I have known four of her six bridesmaids since I was ten years old! It is surreal to see someone that you've known since the days of braces and awkward middle school dances getting ready to marry the man of her dreams. Just a few pueblos over (I couldn't get enough of that New Mexico architecture!) Andy was prepping for the day with his two sons. Cartoons played in the background as he adjusted their cummerbunds.Sarah & Andy saw each other for the first time in the library at the resort and you better believe I asked them to adventure just ten minutes out of town to capture some epic Santa Fe scenery. Sarah borrowed my
cute more comfortable Sketchers to traipse through the snow as we carefully placed her cathedral length veil atop dessert chaparral and glistening snow. I loved Sarah's & her bridesmaids' fur shawls - not only were they beautiful, but they also kept them warm during portraits! I also loved the pinecones that were included in their bouquets - the perfect nod to winter. We all headed inside for their candlelit ceremony set against a roaring fire. Sarah, Andy, and the boys lit a unity candle blessing their new family and kicked off the evening of celebration.Andy's groomsman played acoustic guitar during the cocktail hour & first dances, and later into the evening when the reception because a karaoke extravaganza! Sarah & Andy belted out their favorite tunes under a canopy of twinkle lights. The clear tent made us all feel like we were dancing under the stars. We all enjoyed classic Santa Fe fare - from mini tacos and margaritas to green chili sliders. Sarah and Andy headed straight from their sparkler send off to their honeymoon cruise to Mexico.Kevin even got to join me for this adventure - meeting several of my Memphis friends for the first time. We snowboarded (yes, there are actually great ski resorts in the desert - who knew?!), visited the Georgia O'Keefe museum, and can I mention the food again? It was an unforgettable weekend, and I am so glad I got to be a part of it! Congratulations, Sarah & Andy - you're married!!!Venue, Coordination & Catering: La Posada Resort, Santa Fe, New Mexico // Hair & Makeup: Diva // Dress: Warren Barron, Dallas // Florals: Marisa's Millefiori // Ceremony Music: Primavera // Photography: Meredith McKee PhotographyTake a look back at their Santa Fe engagement session!
