Handcrafted UW Wedding: Ali & Lindsay

Ali’s mom suggested she join Match. It wasn’t much her style – Ali is a planner & she didn’t plan on being contacted her first day by Lindsay. They clicked instantly on their first date talking for hours over coffee. Their love for each other grew quickly – each knowing they had finally found the one that complemented their soul.  During her vows, Lindsay described how Ali wanted someone to “claim her”. At first, Lindsay was taken aback, having not heard this phrase used in a positive way – until she realized what Ali meant & its significance for her. Claiming something, or someone, means stating that something is the case, typically without providing evidence or proof. It means asserting that that someone is unequivocally mine. I think this is beautiful.

I have mentioned before that I knew immediately that Ali & Lindsay would be more than clients to me, so it came as no surprise how joyful I felt getting to capture their wedding day. Let me tell you one thing, it is mighty hard to shoot when you are fighting back tears of happiness! Their day was so them. Their ceremony took place in a sheltered garden on the campus of the University of Washington. They spoke their vows surrounded by close family and friends, and their dog Emo, of course. Lindsay said “I Do” in a custom suit that she picked out down to the buttons. Ali had developed quite the hand at woodworking during the planning process and made everything from the mason jar display stands to the sign that hung above their cake table. Ali had made it for Lindsay’s birthday earlier this year – “If you want to go quickly, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”

They ate wood-fired pizza, danced the night away & were sent off into the night with “ecofetti” (yes, that’s a thing). It was such an honor getting to document this marriage & I’m wishing Ali & Lindsay nothing by happiness and great adventures! Cheers!
