This Easter weekend was filled with emotion: utter joy over the gorgeous weather, but also bittersweet feelings for the carrier, the USS NIMITZ, leaving for a 6+ month deployment. Growing up in a Navy family myself, it was hard watching Kevin’s dad, the captain of the carrier, sail away; however, my amazement for and appreciation of our military men, women & their families never ceases. I am so thankful for people like Kevin’s dad, my dad, and my sister’s husband, and the work they do and have done to protect our country. Something that often goes under-appreciated is the immense amount of support from the families at home. Their strength and resilience is inspiring. So for all that you do: Thank you.
It was a foggy morning followed by a majestic departure – We concluded the morning with a chaotic Easter egg hunt with all of the Nimitz families – more to come from this special day soon!
