Whidbey Island Wedding Photographer: Crockett Farm Wedding

Karen & Jarrett met while they were working at Canlis – one of the most revered fine dining experience restaurants in Seattle. They bonded over their love of food and wine, hosting their friends and traveling the world. On weekends they would go on spontaneous road trips, explore local bookstores, and enjoy a scoop of Molly Moon’s as they strolled around Cal Anderson Park. When they finally decided to tie the knot, they knew they wanted to create a true experience for their family and friends, and ultimately decided on hosting them for a weekend in Coupeville on stunning & serene Whidbey Island. Fort Casey Inn and nearby Crockett Farm were the perfect locations for a laid back celebration of two loving, down-to-earth people, centered around you guessed it – food and wine! On Friday, Karen and Jarrett treated their guests to a raw oyster bar, chicken and waffles, and rosé by the glassful out on the lawn. Kids ran around playing, family and friends told sweet stories and they partied well into the evening.

The next morning brought casual conversation over cheese and champagne as Karen’s friend curled her hair in the living room. Karen whisked her hair up into a perfect twist & dabbed on some makeup. Jittery with nerves and overwhelmed with emotion, she stepped into her dress. Karen & Jarrett weren’t the kind of couple that wanted to stage much of anything when in came to their wedding photos – they didn’t want to make a big deal over the first look, or take too long for portraits or detail shots. I loved getting to capture the day as it unfolded, captivated by their emotions. I let myself get swept away by Jarrett’s three sisters singing One Voice by The Wailin’ Jennys during their ceremony and wrapped up in the words of their reading, Romans 12:4-18. I’ve included the entire passage below, but above all else this struck me:

17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. 18 If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.

This passage speaks so clearly to the kind hearts of Karen & Jarrett. The day was blustery and chilly, but they were greeted by a horizon to horizon rainbow during the reception. We all exclaimed that we’d never seen anything like it. As it beamed across the fields and water, Karen stretched her arms to the sky – completely present in that moment, soaking in all of their happiness and joy. I am so thankful that I got to be a part of such a beautiful celebration & I can’t wait to see what adventures Karen and Jarrett tackle together next. A 3-week-long honeymoon in Italy, Croatia & Slovenia is a sure good place to start! Congratulations you two!! xoxo

Karen wore the same veil that her mom wore on her wedding day! I loved this shot of her friend seeing the old photo on her phone.

Jarrett’s sister made the bouquet & floral arrangements for the day – a perfect combination of wildflowers to compliment the farm setting.

Jarrett greeting his three niece flower girls was just about the cutest thing I’ve ever seen.

Karen & Jarrett brought jugs of Rachel’s Ginger Beer to be used in their signature cocktail – a Dark ‘N’ Stormy!

Romans 12:4-18

For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.

Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. 10 Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. 11 Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. 12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. 13 Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.

14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. 16 Live in harmony with one another.Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.

17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. 18 If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.

I loved getting to capture their rehearsal dinner the night before the wedding at Fort Casey Inn! Such a perfect way to kick off the weekend!
