It was a beautiful spring day and the cherry blossoms were in bloom when Sunny and Alex met in Spanish class at the University of Washington. They immediately bonded over their love of travel and zest for adventure. Sunny and Alex have traveled the globe together: from a school trip to Guatemala, to backpacking throughout Southeast Asia to living in Taiwan together for three years. They are each other’s best and favorite travel companion, and after 7 years of dating, they tied the knot back where it all started.
Substitute the warmth of summer and the fragrant smell of lavender for the UW cherry blossoms and we’ve arrive on their wedding day. Family and guests traveled from all over the world to celebrate their union. The celebration was an intimate affair, a simple ceremony and reception set amongst the fields at Woodinville Lavender on a beautiful Thursday evening in July. The bridesmaids wore varying shades of lavender and Sunny delighted in twirling her BHLDN gown.
Sunny, Alex and their guests spoke a mixture of English and Chinese throughout the wedding day – Alex moving everyone by reciting his vows in both languages. Everyone could feel the love that exists between them. They played in the lavender fields as the sun began to dip behind the trees, and swayed on the dance floor which was dimly lit by the fading light and strings of bulbs. Sunny and Alex were sent off with glowing sparklers to their next adventure – a month long Mexican honeymoon – their first international excursion as husband and wife. Congratulations, you two! I am so happy I got to be a part of your day – keep your wanderlust alive! xx
