This past weekend was one for the books! Friday night, Kevin & I joined Phil & Amy on their rooftop deck downtown to bask in the glorious Seattle sunshine. Their apartment building is right near the water and has the most gorgeous sweeping views of the Sound, the Olympics, Rainier, and all of Seattle. Talk about a dreamy backdrop for an engagement session! We opened a bottle of wine and toasted to their upcoming summer wedding. We only spent maybe 20 minutes snapping photos as the sun dipped closer to the horizon, but I think we captured their joy & romance perfectly! We ate grilled pizza, chatted about their Thailand honeymoon plans & enjoyed the view. Kevin & I had an early morning ahead of us on Saturday, so we headed home and prepped for the rest of the weekend.
Saturday was an equally gorgeous sunny day as we headed to Volunteer Park for the Fiesta 5K Ole race! The only 5K I’d run in the last maybe 8 years was the Color Run and that was more about getting doused in dye than actually racing, so I was a bit nervous. Over the last year, Kevin has taken up running pretty seriously (he ran the Seattle Marathon last fall) so I knew I wanted to kick my game up a notch. I was a runner in grade school – track in middle and cross country in high school – but persistent injuries had kept me lacing up my sneakers for nearly a decade. I started the Couch to 5K program back in January and it (slowly) prepped me for the race. I seriously can’t recommend this app enough if you’re interested in getting into running shape! I’m happy to report that I beat my goal time (and aim to not stop to walk!) and wasn’t in any major joint pain. Success! We celebrated in the margarita garden (#winning) and rewarded ourselves with some amazing tacos. To add to an already lovely weekend, we rooftop grilled again with our friends Marcy & Chris in Capitol Hill before heading to the Sounders game which we won 2-0. Game. Set. Match. Well, soccer, instead of tennis. Anyway, enjoy some stunning, sun dripping, love giggling photos – Amy & Phil, I can’t wait for your wedding this summer!! xx
