The Seattle area offers so many beautiful locations for family photos. Many parks include tree lined walks as well as waterfront access. The calm lake waters are perfect for toddlers to throw rocks or step feet into the water.
One thing I definitley want for your session, is for you to feel connected to the space. Are you into the mountains, the trees, the water? What is your family’s happy place?
While I am always open to suggestions for where to take photos I always have a few favorite locations up my sleeve.
Luther Burbank Park – Mercer Island
Located on the northeast end of Mercer Island, Luther Burbank Park features spectacular views of Lake Washington, with three-quarters of a mile of Lake Washington waterfront. Much of the park has been left undeveloped and includes wetlands to the the north and south ends of the park.
I love meeting families on weeknights when the sun is nearly setting at golden hour and we nearly have the place to ourselves.
Luther Burbank is also a great option in the mornings as the sun is coming up over Lake Washington, facing towards Bellevue!
This is a great location during any season. the Foliage is showing off particularly well during spring and fall.
Winter walks are some of my faves, when overcast skies create natures soft box, a photographer’s dream!
In the summer the heat can be quite intense in Seattle, but being in the shade of the trees or down by the breezy water is a welcome relief.
