This trip still doesn’t feel like it was real!!! Earlier this year, my bestie – Jen – and I traveled to Paris and spent a week exploring the city, and doing not one, but two, incredible styled shoots (in addition to 4 family sessions & one engagement session!) We’ve been working hard to get these wedding shoots featured online & showcase the amazing vendors we got to work with & I am so excited that this Château de Sceaux shoot is published today on JoyWed!!! Jen connected with Katie – who is an American photographer living in Paris with her French husband – before the trip & dreamed up this French garden session. We arrived at the park very early in the morning to avoid the crowds and for the most part had the grounds to ourselves! I could have photographed this sweet couple & this jaw-dropping location for hours – they were only engaged at the time (officially tied the knot this summer) and were just giddy in love. I am so thankful for this trip & how much it filled my creative tank for my couples back in the States! Thank you again to everyone who made this dream happen!!
Here’s a little write up from the blog!
“Seattle-based hair and makeup artist, Jen Lagers of The Outer Edge, & photographer Meredith McKee, started dreaming of a Parisian adventure together back in 2016. Their trip would be filled with creative inspiration, photo sessions, and time soaking up French cuisine & culture. Jen connected with American photographer Katie Donnelly through Instagram before she & Meredith started planning their trip, and thought that Katie would be the perfect model. Katie had moved to Paris to be with her French fiance, Pyk, and has since grown her portrait business immensely. The sweet couple was more than happy to play bride & groom for the inspiration session Jen & Meredith had dreamed up, and suggested the stunning Chateau de Sceaux for a location. Pyk frequently played rugby on the fields nearby and they knew that the property would perfectly fit the vision for a precisely manicured French garden.
Katie & Pyk were gracious in providing early morning coffee in their Parisian flat as Jen crafted her contemporary up-do and makeup. Everyone piled in the car to arrive at the Chateau just after dawn, lending cloudy morning light and hardly any other people around. Jen and Meredith had flown Katie’s Pedram Couture gown all the way from Seattle – which they had carefully chosen from MeaMarie Bridal Atelier. The subtle hombre of the gown’s tulle – nude to rose to lavender – coordinated seamlessly with the smooth stone of the chateau.
A gorgeous bouquet by Parisian florist Lily Griffiths added the perfect pop of color against the various shades of green in the garden featuring some of the seasons first scarlet peonies. A white fur shawl provided cozy snuggles between shots. Jen let Katie’s hair down for a more casual style for the second portion of the session and let the movement of the dress show as Katie twirled in the arbor. The true love and connection between Katie and Pyk was beautiful to capture.”
