I was so thrilled when Kacey & Cole reached out to me about photographing their first anniversary! I’ve mentioned time & time again how much I love building close relationships with my couples, especially when I get to photograph them year after year. Kacey & Cole’s vision for their engagement session two years ago was playing arcade games down at the Seattle waterfront Pier. Unfortunately, the carousel area was closed for renovations, but we still had fun exploring around Miner’s Landing! And we ultimately did part of their session at Full Tilt (one of my favorite ice cream spots!)
Their wedding day last October was one of the rainiest on record. Lucky for me, Kacey & Cole are always down to explore fun indoor photo location ideas (like record stores)! They’re also up for braving the elements with umbrellas in hand! Since the waterfront carousel is back up and running, we thought it would be the perfect location for their anniversary session.
Kacey also had a little something up her sleeve…
She decided that she wanted to conquer one of her greatest phobias – her fear of heights – with Cole for their shoot. She told me that they’d tried to ride the Great Wheel before, but couldn’t muster up the courage. I loved the idea of Kacey wanting to celebrate one year of marriage by conquering her fear with her husband by her side!
These two always have so much fun together. Their laughter is contagious and I’m always in stitches when I spend time with them. We had a perfect afternoon riding the carousel and then taking a spin on the Great Wheel. (I did have to take some breaks so I wouldn’t get too dizzy!!) It was my first time riding the Wheel too and the views of the city & the Puget Sound were breathtaking. I was so proud of Kacey for keeping it together (on the outside at least!) and allowing me to capture such a big moment for her and Cole. Here’s to many more joyful years & overcoming any obstacles life throws your way together! xx
